Morning Ride

It is cool enough this time of year I need more than a hoodie when I back my bike out of the garage. I will ride the Road Glide this morning. I ride that more than my Softail these days. I closed the garage door and went back into the house and put on a leather jacket. As I walk outside locking the front door I am pulling on a pair of gloves and zipping up. I straddle the bike, turn on the ignition and push the starter button. I sure don't miss kick starters in the mornings. The air is crisp and dry as I accelerate down the street the coolness of it ripping around my glasses enough to make the corners of my eyes tear up. I adjust the glasses to prevent the wind from getting in my eyes and turn at the stop sign. As I pull out on the main road into the neighborhood I feel the air prick at my legs through my jeans. Each pore feels a pin poke of coolness that fades as I ride further into the morning. Cagers join me at the Light. When it turns green I pull out onto the fistfight. A six lane road that connects two main arteries into downtown from the suburbs. Stop light to stoplight we jog for the best position. I pay more attention to the ones texting and driving as they usually go slower or will pace the guy next to them out of their peripheral vision. Either way they are not only an obstacle but also higher risk for a guy on a bike negotiating his way down the road.  Zero to sixty and back to zero in less than a half mile several times to get to the final light where I can turn right and bail out of there. A last blast then one more quick deceleration before I turn left and calmly roll to my usual morning parking spot. As I get off the bike and stroll through the grass to the front door I look back and feel a longing inside to just get back on her and take the day off.

politicaly correct stupidity

What is it with today's society and political correctness? Our government gives terrorist Miranda rights? What is next? This continued "lets be nice to the people that hate us" agenda is the most backwards thinking that I have ever heard. If the school bully demands your lunch money you do not give it to them. Make them take it. They will try to intimidate you. Stand your ground. When you give the bully your money, he comes back tomorrow. Our inability to grow a backbone in our government is the cause of terrorism.

new day CHANGE

What is it about the responsibility of freedom that makes people believe they can impose their belief systems on me and I have to stand there and take it? We have the freedom to be differant. You do not have to like me, or me you. We do have the responsibility to coexist. That means we tolerate each others differances. It does not mean that we condem each others ways.
